J. Alan Reid, Jr
J. Alan Reid, Jr., CIMA, serves as a member of our Advisory Board. Mr. Reid brings more than 30 years of experience in asset management, brokerage and wealth management, providing strategic counseling to a wide range of clients, including industry groups, bulge bracket firms, family offices andnstartups. From June 2015 to present, Mr. Reid has served as the Founder and Managing Member of Reid Partners LLC, where he advises active family offices and entrepreneurs focused on disrupting industries. From January 2014 to present, he serves as Director of Arista Group, and its subsidiary Forward Ships, a Greek Family Office based in Sintra, Portugal. In 2014, Mr. Reid co-founded and chaired The 1640 Society, a nonprofitorganization that provides a forum for family offices to exchange ideas and information on topics such as wealth management and asset allocation.In 1997, Mr. Reid was recruited to work with Gordon Getty to develop innovative businesses focused on Mr. Getty’s interests in the evolution of payments and asset management. From March 1997 to May 2015, Mr. Reid held the positions of president and chief executive officer of numerous Getty controlled entities including Forward Management, ReFlow Management, Sierra Club Mutual Funds and Sutton Place Management. He also served on the Investment Company Institute Board of Governors, The Forward Funds Board of Trustees, The Legato Board of Directors, The FOLIOfn Board of Directors, and an industry working group at The NY Federal Reserve Bank. From August, 1992 to April, 2001, Mr. Reid held multiple positions at Morgan Stanley, including Sr. Vice President and Director of Business Delivery, where he built and ran operations, trading, human resources, and call centers for Morgan Stanley Online, and as Executive Director for Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Group, where he developed data aggregation for family office services.Mr. Reid holds a Bachelor’s degree from Menlo College in Atherton, California.
